These days it’s easier than ever to do online research to find out about school systems, neighborhoods, parking, weather, public transportation, and laws that are native to that area.

You can find out about the desert landscapes’ flora, fauna and other life forms that will greet you.  Phoenix sometimes feels like “Animal Planet”.  Depending on what part of town you live you may be lulled to sleep by coyotes.  Yes, Phoenix had coyotes.  You’ll hear them howling, yelping and barking throughout the night in various areas in Phoenix.

If you’re not from the area, prepare yourself to see wild desert tortoises, roadrunners, chuckwallas, wild pigs and Gila monsters—and if you’re lucky you’ll spot some jaguars, bald eagles, mountain lions and bobcats. And a lot of snakes.

Have a Plan

There are a lot of steps to go through before you start packing the moving truck. Find housing and have a job waiting for you.

Phoenix is a growing community with companies like Uber, Yelp and Shutterfly with offices in Phoenix, the area could be the next big tech hub in America.

Phoenix is also the perfect starting ground for startups, entrepreneurs, and local companies. In this economy, it definitely depends on who you’re asking, but it’s clear Phoenix knows how to diversify.

Get Involved

Meeting people in a big city can be daunting. Take the initiative. If there are things you liked to do in your town, find ways to do those things in a new city. Try new things. New cities offer so many opportunities to engage other people, so find what you like.  If coffee is your thing, Phoenicians take pride in their coffee scene.  Not everyone knows that Phoenix’s coffee scene is one of the best in the nation and there are literally dozens of places to choose from.

Or if you are more interested in getting outside, to enjoy some of the 300+ days of sunshine, Phoenicians have golfing down to a “tee”.

You’re going to notice right away that there is a lot of golf going on in Phoenix. The more than 200 courses are unique and strategically located throughout the city. And Phoenix is also home to the largest professional golf tournament on the PGA Tour—the Phoenix Open.
